First, tetanus causes local infection and tissue death by releasing its toxins. Then it infects the lymph system, and spreads to the spinal cord and brain.
The disease affects Homeostasis because the nervous system loses control of the muscular system and then muscle spasms and muscle contractions begin to form. As a result, the body cannot keep up with all of this involuntary ‘workouts’ so the body starts sweating profusely, and the patient has trouble breathing. In total, the muscular system, the lymph system, the nervous system, the circulatory system, the respiratory system, and the integumentary system.
- The muscular system starts creating involuntary muscle spasms that cause huge amounts of pain. Seizures and painful muscle contractions in the neck, jaw and abdomen are also very painful.
- The lymph system is attacked so your body fluids are not normal
- The nervous system gets affected because there are many involuntary things that affect the muscular system. The locking of the jaw is involuntary meaning the brain can’t control it.
- The circulatory system is infected because the bacteria gets in the bloodstream and infects and creates a tingling feeling in the place where infected. The bloodstream also acts as an entry point for the bacteria. The heart also starts beating rapidly.
- The respiratory system is infected because the patient has trouble breathing.
- The integumentary system is infected because the patient starts sweating profusely. The skin also becomes blue because the patient starts having seizures and the skin cells don’t get any oxygen.
